Switch to Generics Saves $243,000 on WCMSA Meds

MSA

A client’s WCMSA included brand name Celebrex 200mg and AcipHex 20mg, totaling $290,487.60 over the claimant’s life expectancy.

At the client’s request, Sanderson Firm contacted the treating provider to verify whether generic medications could be prescribed instead.  The treater agreed to switch the prescriptions to generics and Sanderson Firm obtained appropriate written confirmation of the change.

Upon submission of the revised allocation, CMS approved the WCMSA with the generics priced at $46,828.80.  Sanderson Firm’s clinical mitigation saved our client over $243,000.
